CAREER REVIEW
SPECIALIST COMPUTER CENTRES
1996 - 2000SUPERVISOR MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING - LEEDS CITY COUNCIL 1999
SCC has the contract for hardware maintenance with Leeds City Council. I was chosen by SCC to run a team of four engineers and an administrator within a contract which was in difficulties due to staff morale and logistical problems with spares. During the time I was at this site, I managed to clear a backlog of outstanding faults and set up a realistic stock of spare parts and loan machines.
TEAM LEADER MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING - HALIFAX plc. 1996 -1999
SCC was the main contractor supporting Halifax plc in Halifax. My duties included supporting all Halifax computing and communications systems in their seven main sites in Halifax and Leeds. These vary from 'dumb' terminals connected to mainframes through to the latest NT server/95 workstation system. I was the only maintenance engineer with supervisor access to all Novell servers and the first SCC engineer whom the Halifax chose to train for their new system. During my time at the Halifax, I suggested and implemented various improvements to the Halifax's maintenance and fault recording systems. The position included co-ordinating eight maintenance engineers to ensure faults were attended to within the two hour allowed response time, training Halifax helpdesk staff, and liasing with staff and management at all levels up to and including the Chief Executive Officer.
